Privacy Statement

SigniaGlobe Financial Group Inc. hereafter referred to either “we” or “us” or “SigniaGlobe” is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding the personal information you have entrusted to us.

We strive to be the number one finance company in the Caribbean offering an exceptional customer experience to every customer, every time from start to finish. Our privacy management practices are based on our Core Values and comply with relevant laws and regulations. Regulations such as the Barbados Data Protection Act 2019 (BDPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) EU Act serve to empower data subjects who are Barbadian and EU citizens with enhanced rights in relation to how information is used. Data subjects must also provide consent to the use of their data and for specific purposes.

We encourage Users to read this Privacy Notice so that they understand how SigniaGlobe collects, uses, shares and protects your Personal Information.  We may ask your permission before collecting certain information through our application forms.

     1. What Information we collect

Personal Information essential for fulfilling most financial requests and completingapplications include:

  • Information establishing your identity – such as your title, name, address, phone number, business phone number, email address, date of birth, passport number, nationality and account numbers. This information can be in any form included paper, electronic, video or voice recording;
  • Information to authenticate your identity – such as knowledge-based information (i.e., username, password and account information), device information (i.e., device model, browser type, IP address, security cookie and approximate physical location of device)
  • Information related to transactions – arising from your relationship with and through SigniaGlobe services.
  • Information you provide on an application – for the provision of our products and services, such as your annual income, place of employment, investments, account balance, financial liabilities, transaction history.
  • Information about financial behaviour – such as your payment history and credit worthiness
  • Additional information – this may be requested to help us determine your eligibility for products and services that we offer.

We may collect, retain and use personal information" about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other loan and account forms
  • Information about your accounts or transactions with us, our affiliates or others including account balances, account activity and payment history.
  • Information we receive from consumer reports, such as information regarding your creditworthiness or credit history. 

     2. Why we use your information

We only use your personal information if we have a legal basis to do so. This includes sharing the information within and outside of RBC companies. We may use your personal information:

  • with your consent;
  • to fulfil a contract we have with you to provide services covered by your account agreement; to verify your identity and investigate your personal background, as permitted by law;
  • for legitimate business purposes. Using your personal information helps us to operate and improve our business and minimize any disruption to the services that we may offer to you; for managing risks and operations
  • to comply with legal and regulatory obligations;
  • for the purpose of preventing, detecting fraud; and suppressing financial abuse;
  • for client and employee safety, protection against theft and property damage in and around physical premises and;
  • for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims or proceedings;

      3. Sharing Your Information

Under certain circumstances, your personal information including some or all of the categories of information set out under “What information we collect” is shared and may have been shared with third parties.

We may use service providers to perform specialized services on our behalf including data processing, research or marketing. Our service providers may at times be responsible for processing personal information. They are provided only the information necessary to perform the services. In addition, we require them to protect the information in a manner  that is consistent with our privacy policies, security practices and in line with the relevant laws and regulations.

We will only share your information with other third parties for the purposes described below:

  • to provide you with products and services you request; as permitted or required by law, to comply with laws, regulations, subpoena or court order;
  • to respond to valid and authorized information requests from domestic and international authorities;
  • for the purpose of preventing or detecting fraud and suppressing financial abuse;
  • to protect the personal safety of employees, clients or other third parties on SigniaGlobe property;

We may use your personal information: for the purposes communicated to you at the time of collection or in your agreement(s) with us and in this notice;

  • to verify your identity and to authenticate you when you contact us;
  • to provide you with the financial products and services requested;
  • to communicate to you any benefit, feature and other information about products and services you have with us;
  • to better understand your financial situation and offer financial advice;
  • to assess and determine your eligibility for products and services,
  • using your credit bureau and other information;
  • to manage our risks and operations; and to meet regulatory and legal requirements
  • for the purpose of preventing or detecting fraud or suppressing financial abuse to help us understand the interests of our current and prospective clients
  • If we have your tax identification number (such as national identification number or social security number), and you hold a product generating income, we may use it for tax related purposes and share it with the appropriate government agencies. We may also share it with credit reporting agencies as an aid to identify you.

        5. Keeping Your Information Safe

Protecting your personal information for as long as required to comply with all business, legal and regulatory record keeping requirements and aligned with our internal policies and retention schedules. This commitment extends to our online services and any new technologies we employ.

From time to time, we may enter into agreements with other companies to provide services to us or to make products and services available to you. Under these agreements, the companies may receive information about you. They must safeguard this information, and they may not use it for any other purpose.

       6. Cookies

We use cookies to maintain a visitor's navigation state within our site and online system. We do not store personally identifiable information in these cookies, and we do not read any cookies that we did not specifically place. Neither do we use cookies to track your web browsing patterns or for any other marketing purpose.

From time to time, we may change this Privacy Policy. The effective date of this policy, as stated below, indicates the last time this policy was revised or materially changed. Checking the effective date below allows you to determine whether there have been changes since the last time you reviewed the policy.
